How Realistic is World Flight?

We operate the Simfest Boeing 737 as realistically as possible. Not just in the flight deck but also the assocated ground crews.

Real Time
Each flight is flown in real time including turn around time on the ground. The aircraft is fueled in real time and loaded with our virtual passengers in real time. We have to factor in timings like the real airlines do.

Real Flight Plans
All our flights are planned using real world routes and procedures. The flight plans are even ran through Eurocontrols flight plan validator to ensure they are valid for use in real life flying. The crew fill in the flight plans during the flight keeping an eye on time and fuel.

Real Weather
The Simulator downloads the current real world weather from various sources on the internet so what we see inside the simulator is exactly what would be seen in real life.

Realistic Scenery
Each airport along our route is accurately modelled. Including vehicles on the ground and all buildings. You can even see people walking down the airbridges. Check out our sponsors webpage for an example.
Real Charts
For each flight we carry a full set of real world charts provided by our sponsor Jeppesen. Just like real world airline pilots would be using. How could we possibly get lost!?!?!
Real Procedures
Although we have a really good time whilst flying we follow real world procedures and follow real checklists and manuals.
Live ATC & Other Traffic
Thanks to VATSIM we have full air traffic control during our flight. We could be speaking with German controllers in Germany or local South Africans. When local ATC is unavailable the Australian team step in with their excellent impressions of local accents. This also means that the other simulators and pilots flying along with us are seen out of the windows and on our onboard TCAS system.
Operations
Just like an airline we operate a 24x7 operations department during world flight. This provides flight planning, website updates, flight crew support and other various services during world flight.
Ground Crew
Just like at a real airport we have ground crew to prepare the aircraft for departure. Including Fuelers and push back tug drivers.
Cabin Crew
In order to keep the crew going during the event we take it in turns to take on the role of cabin crew. We have a full stock of snacks, meals, coffee and of course beer on board. Chicken or beef sir?
